Memphis, Tennessee – Saint Francis Healthcare is taking the time on National Doctors’ Day to honor its physicians for the compassion and skills they provide to their patients daily.
In conjunction with Saint Francis’s parent company, Tenet Healthcare, the national theme for 2024 is “Wings and Stethoscopes: Healers of Hope”. The stethoscopes reflect the idea that doctors are always ready to provide care through their unwavering commitment to their patients, which in return creates hope for those facing the unthinkable.
“On behalf of all our Governing Board members, and all of our employees, I would like to extend my heartfelt appreciation to our physicians,” said Scott Smith, Market CEO of Saint Francis Healthcare and CEO of Saint Francis Hospital-Memphis “On this National Doctors’ Day, we take the time to thank and honor each of our physicians for their dedication to patients, making our mission statement ring true, healthcare is better together. This year marks Saint Francis-Memphis’s 50th anniversary, and our physicians have played an integral role in helping us deliver exceptional care and become a trusted provider in the community.”
Celebrated on March 30th each year, Doctors’ Day was officially established in 1991 when President George Bush issued a proclamation in observance of the day. March 30th also marks the anniversary of the first use of general anesthesia in surgery by Dr. Crawford W. Long in 1842. National Doctors’ Day is commonly celebrated in healthcare organizations, as a day to recognize the contributions of doctors to individual lives and communities.
