Directions to Registration & Pre-Admission Testing:

  • Park in the visitor parking lot in front of the hospital and enter through the main entrance.
  • The registration desk is on the left as you enter the main lobby.
  • After registering, take the Barry Elevators just past the gift shop to the 3rd Floor.

Step 1

Pre-Admission Testing
Monday-Friday 7am-Spm

During your Pre-Admission Testing, you will meet with a nurse to complete your registration, medical history and obtain testing required for your procedure. Items to bring to Pre-Admission Testing include:

  • Insurance card
  • Photo Identification
  • Paper work from your surgeon's office
  • All medications and dosages
  • Living Will or Power of Attorney - advance directive resources from the state of Tennessee can be found here
  • Immunization record and social security card for children under 18
  • If you have been to your primary care physician for clearance before surgery, please bring any test results with you

Step 2

Day Before Surgery
NO EATING, DRINKING, SMOKING, MINTS OR GUM AFTER MIDNIGHT THE NIGHT BEFORE YOUR PROCEDURE (unless instructed by your doctor)

  • You will receive a reminder phone call the afternoon before your procedure to confirm the time to arrive at the hospital for your procedure.
  • Plan to wear a comfortable outfit to leave the hospital. Bring glasses, contact lens case, phone charger, toothbrush and other necessary items if you are staying overnight in the hospital.

Step 3

Morning of Surgery
Take blood pressure, heart, stomach, seizure, or breathing medicine with a sip of water the morning of your procedure.

Day of Surgery
Report directly to Same Day Surgery on the 3rd floor of the Barry Bldg. the day of your procedure.

  • If you are having outpatient surgery, a responsible adult must accompany you and remain at the hospital until you are discharged. If you receive any form of anesthesia, it will be necessary for someone to drive you home and stay with you for 24 hours. Buses and cabs are not acceptable alternatives.
  • Remove all makeup, jewelry, contact lenses, & nail polish before surgery. Wear comfortable clothing that will be appropriate to wear home when discharged.
  • Bring a copy of your Living Will and/or Durable Power of Attorney for Healthcare and/or Advanced Care Plan.
