A Message from our CEO
Saint Francis Hospital’s stated mission is to heal, support and comfort all whom we serve in the tradition of Catholic health care. Our vision is to be partners in patient centered health care — No. 1 in quality, safety and service excellence while providing the right care, at the right place, at the right time — every patient, every time. As one of those partners, Saint Francis Hospital-Memphis is committed to making that vision a reality for all of our patients, all the time.
Saint Francis Hospital is fully committed to its mission, vision and values. We have formed strong relationships with our doctors, patients, employees, payors and vendors. We know that a strong, successful health care system is beneficial to us, our patients and our communities.
We welcome your ideas and suggestions. Your input is an important part of our ongoing success as a community-directed health care facility and system.
Saint Francis Hospital opened its doors in 1974 and was the first full-service hospital located in the East Memphis area. Though it has never been owned by the Catholic Church, its creation was the result of Catholic inspiration. Therefore, Saint Francis began operation as a nonprofit hospital, providing care according to Catholic directives for health care facilities. Today, the hospital is part of Tenet Healthcare and is a for-profit institution. However, our Catholic roots continue to influence the way we provide services, as evidenced in our Mission Statement.
The Saint Francis campus is home to Saint Francis Hospital with 519 beds, the Saint Francis/University of Tennessee Family Practice Residency Program building, two multi-story medical office buildings and the Saint Francis Outpatient Surgery Center.
We have approximately 1,000 affiliated staff doctors, 2000 employees and 200 volunteers.
If you have questions about our hospital, its history or services, call (901) 765-1000 or email us. We look forward to hearing from you.
