Respiratory Care Services 

The Saint Francis Hospital Respiratory Care Department is responsible for the care of patients from neonatal through geriatric. It has been recognized by The American Association for Respiratory Care since 2007 with The Quality Respiratory Care Recognition Award.  The department is involved in meeting the needs of patients from critical onset to home health.

Registered Respiratory Therapists and Certified Respiratory Therapists comprise a dedicated team that works together to serve our patients 24/7.  We provide the following services:

  • Assist Physicians with Bronchoscopy Procedures
  • Arterial Blood Gas Collections and Analysis
  • Perform Pulmonary Function Testing
  • Adult and Neonatal Mechanical Ventilation and Weaning
  • Adult and Neonatal Intubations and Extubations
  • Administration and Education of Bi-Pap and CPAP
  • Aerosol Therapy Education and Administration
  • Meter Dose Inhaler Education and Administration
  • Chest Percussion and Postural Drainage
  • Oxygen Delivery and Weaning
  • Pulse Oximetry Studies
  • Incentive Spirometry
  • Breathing Retraining
  • Panic Control and Relaxation Techniques
  • Patient Transports
  • Respond to Medical Response Team Calls

The Saint Francis’ Respiratory Care Department may complete over 200,000 procedures this year. The department is focused on achieving quality goals in order to provide better outcomes for our patients.
