Maternity & Family Birthing Center

Welcoming a new addition to the family is one of the most special events in life. At Saint Francis Healthcare, our goal is always to maintain safe, healthy deliveries while keeping you, your baby and your family and friends comfortable and informed. Our Family Birthing Center provides education classes for mom and dad to help them get ready for the new baby.

Our postpartum floor features family-friendly suites with the amenities new moms deserve. Mother can rest comfortably in a spa-like environment with a private bath and sleeping area while families can bond in the adjoining spacious family room complete with sofa, restroom and dinette.

Labor & Delivery

At Saint Francis Healthcare, you have access to a private labor, delivery and recovery room and staff dedicated to making your stay comfortable. Our labor and delivery team consists of registered nurses, operating room technicians, certified nurses’ assistants and childbirth educators who all work together with a goal of providing the best care possible. All registered nurses are trained in high-risk obstetrical care and are certified in fetal monitoring.

Our team is experienced in caring for mothers and babies throughout both low- and high-risk pregnancies, and we’re dedicated to helping you reduce your risk of complications. A specialist will identify, diagnose and treat any disorders or problems that may develop during your pregnancy. If you need a Caesarean section, we are committed to providing a safe delivery for your baby. Once your baby arrives, he or she will have constant monitoring to assure baby is comfortable and healthy, and to immediately notify our staff of any changes.

In recovery, we encourage new moms to room with their newborns for more bonding time together. If your baby is in the nursery, you can request that he or she be brought to you at any time. You’ll also receive instruction on baby care and self-care to assure you’re comfortable with taking the little one home.

In addition, a certified lactation consultant is available for any questions you may have about breastfeeding.

Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)

Should your baby need advanced care, the Saint Francis maternity ward also offers a NICU with doctors and staff specially trained to meet the specialized care needs of our smallest patients. You can take comfort in knowing that we have specialists on-site who can address any complication that may arise for you or your baby.
