SAINT FRANCIS HOSPITAL – MEMPHIS FOOD DRIVE
DELIVERS 3,565 POUNDS OF FOOD TO MID-SOUTH FOOD BANK

The Saint Francis Hospital – Memphis December 2008 Holiday Food Drive resulted in 3,565 pounds of donated food going to the Mid-South Food Bank. In addition to employee donations, the community added to the drive's success by bringing food to the hospital's Action News 5 Holiday Food Drive drop off. "2008 was a rough year for a lot of people in our community with so many losing their jobs and their ability to buy food," said Frances Christian, coordinator of the Saint Francis drive. "Our employees really stepped up this year, as did the community, to make a difference for those in need."
This was the second year for the hospital to hold its holiday drive in conjunction with Action News 5. "The success of this food drive reminds us of how much our employees truly care about the health of this community," said David Archer, President and CEO of Saint Francis.
In addition to the more than 3,500 pounds of food, the hospital's corporate parent, Tenet Health System, will present a check to the Mid-South Food Bank in the amount of $3,565.00, matching the amount raised at a "dollar per pound". According to David Stephens, Vice President, Community Relations at the Food Bank, this monetary donation will allow the organization to purchase over 50,000 pounds of food and provide more than 40,000 meals to the hungry in our area.
